Stuff

Powered byPivot - 1.22: 'Arcee'
XML Feed (RSS 1.0)

+ 11 - 4 | § 1.1 scope (Production spawned?)

The 1.1 version of jPodder will not include the production features. The reasons for this are:

- The Production part has been focused on the creation and uploading of RSS, the reality however is that RSS is often managed online as part of a blogging service. There are some rich UI interfaces, but that is a lot of work to implement.

- I always felt at some point, the production should have recording facilities, including posibilities to create show notes etc... Well that's all very great, but who could focus on this? I guess this an invitation to rip the code out and start a separate project. (jCaster?)

With this decision made (It was boiling for weeks), expect some new features in jPodder receiver function. Some of the stuff I can reveal (As I am working on it).

* OS Integration for file Associations. jPodder will be able to launch apps, based on extension like your file explorer. The difference if that it this would be triggered after downloads or manually. You have an option to choose if you want to use the plugin players or the OS file associations.

* Because of previous, we will also leave out the bittorrent function, maybe I'll add it back in after I have figured out how to strip off the fat of azureus :-)

In other words, jPodder 1.1 will be back to the basics, high quality receiver with a lot of options fast and slim.
